Solar power is right for you IF you want to do your part for the environment. It is right for you if you want to save money. It is right for you if you are not afraid to try something new. It is not right for you if you are not concerned about green house gases. Don’t use it if it doesn’t bother you to have higher utility bills year after year. You should completely forget about it if you are afraid of change.

Solar power is a very clean way to meet your everyday needs. Even if you begin small like drying your clothes in the sun, opening your windows in the daytime and using insulated drapery to shut in the extra heat at night. These are simple forms of solar power, yet they can reduce your carbon footprints in small amounts. The more people that can take even tiny steps the less CO2 will be emitted into the atmosphere.

Solar power is fast becoming the energy of choice. Many states are now requiring that new homes incorporate as least some type of green energy. In Hawaii, it just became law that all new homes must be built with solar water heat. This will lessen the states’ dependence on oil that must be shipped in from the mainland. The cost of a solar hot water system is rather minimal and the returns on it can be seen in one to two years. However, the biggest reward is the reduction in greenhouse gases.

Solar power at this point in time is a matter of choice in most areas, however, it is becoming more and more mandatory nationwide. President Obama has declared it a matter of national security and he is correct in this statement. We depend way too much on oil from other countries, which at any time can refuse to ship it to us. If you remember this happened back in the 70’s when we had an oil embargo placed on us.

Solar power is something we can all do to help insure that future generations don’t have to contend with global warming and high energy costs. It is a concept that has been around for thousands of years but as an industrial nation we have chosen to ignore it. Now is the time for all of us to get onboard and reverse the damage we have caused. We need to re=educate ourselves and there are many guides, books and videos to help us with that.
